ORANGE — Ice sculptures, live music, an award presentation and fireworks mark this year’s Starry Starry Night, Orange’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration.

The 24th Starry Starry Night begins Tuesday at 5:50 p.m. at Town Hall with an announcement of the winner of the town’s holiday lamppost contest. Then, the free, family-fun celebration commences across downtown Orange.

Starry Starry Night is put on by the Orange Revitalization Partnership, with volunteers and sponsors facilitating.

Attractions

Residents will get to see the ice sculptures, a Starry Starry Night tradition at Memorial Park, created by Mark Bosworth, Mike Legassey and Susan O’Sullivan. A warming station will be at Stage on Main, 17 South Main St.

At the Fire Station, weather permitting, will be a large bonfire out back and hay rides from the station out front. Local Boy Scouts will be providing hot cocoa by the hay rides, as well as by Salvation Army near the Butterfield School. If the hay rides are canceled, the Boy Scouts will be at Town Hall.

To usher in the new year, anyone who would like to participate can join in the Parade of Stars, which starts at Town Hall at 10 p.m. and ends at Memorial Park.

“Paraders can make their own star to carry, or they may borrow one of the many stars that will be in front of Town Hall,” said organizer Crystal Parent in a statement. “There will also be kazoos available to make some noise with for those who would like to join in celebrating the life of the late Kenneth Reynolds, who, among the many other things he did for the community, was the Starry Starry Night parade coordinator for 2016 and 2017.”

According to Parent, fireworks will happen after the parade at approximately 10:30 p.m.
