WENDELL — Massachusetts State Police are investigating an accident where a 2010 Ford Escape struck a tree near 136 Lockes Village Road on Monday night.

Leverett Police Chief Scott Minckler — whose officer responded as he was closest to the scene at the time — said no injuries resulted from the accident, but there was no driver when emergency personnel arrived shortly after 8 p.m. Officer William Kimball located a woman nearby who identified herself as the vehicle’s owner and said it had been stolen.

Sgt. Paul Sullivan, spokesperson for the Massachusetts State Police, said there is a person of interest in the case. He said he could not comment further.
