Brazilian-born Alexandre Schwanz became an American citizen at age 11. Now 24, Schwanz is pictured with Orange Town Clerk Nancy Blackmer on June 3, taking the oath of office to the one-year Selectboard seat he won in the town election. Schwanz, who won the position 399 to 361 over George C.F. Willard, was named the Selectboard’s liaison to the town Economic Development and Industrial Corp. and to the Elementary School Committee, on which he serves. Schwanz’s expressed aim has concentrated on fortifying Orange’s economy. “My family and I love this vibrant small town we call home,” he said.
