MacKenzie Paulin struck out 10 batters, and the Valley Storm 12U softball team continued to play well this summer with a 10-5 victory over the Berkshire Force under the lights in Pittsfield on Wednesday night.

Hannah Gilbert paced the offense with two hits, including a double, and Cordelia Guerin also smacked two hits for the Storm. Kylee Gamache had a double and an RBI, while Anna Bucala and Melanie Ring each had a hit and an RBI. Maggie Fay and Amelia Pierce each drove in a run.

Golf

Ashfield Community Thursday League

Tony Warchol, Bev Williams, Katie Benedetti and Lawrence Young shot 1-under-par 32 to capture the top spot in a four-person scramble at the Ashfield Community Golf Club’s Thursday Morning League.

Janet Rogers, Bev LaBelle, Cyndie Stetson and Zach Schneider were right behind in second place with a 33, followed in third by Diane O’Connell, Francie Hall, Connie Szelewiki, and Terry Norwood with a 40.

CFC Women’s League

Lisa Sullivan, Corky Sysun and Jill Rogalski tied for first place with a point quota of plus-2, leading the way at Wednesday’s Crumpin-Fox Club Women’s League in Bernardston.

Jodi Hoynoski, Marty Stinson and Deb Putnam were right behind with a plus-1 point quota.

Terry Boyce was closest to the pin at No. 3 (15 feet, 6 inches) and Jill Waldron was closest at No. 9 (13-3).

Knights of Columbus League

Top honors went to Bill Roussell, who scored a plus-8 point quota at Thomas Memorial Golf & Country Club’s Knights of Columbus League on Wednesday.

Rod Brunelle, Rod Demers, Fran Togneri and Ken Morin tied for second at plus-6.

CCG Elks League

Keith Schempp and David McDonald’s total of 43½ points put them atop the leaderboard at Wednesday’s Country Club of Greenfield Elks League. 

Bob Ferris and Vinnie Melendez were next with 40 points, followed in third place by Joe Lachance and Peter Murphy with 37½ points. Closest to the pin was David McDonald at 1 feet, 10 inches.

Thomas Memorial Ladies League

Three golfers shared first place honors at Wednesday’s Thomas Memorial Ladies League.

Karren Sacco, Sue Mailloux and Nancy Browning all registered plus-10 point quotas to set the table in Turners Falls.

Sarah Rae Fisher was right behind at plus-9. Sacco’s 39 was the low score of the evening.

Running

Northfield Summer Series

Week 9 of the virtual Northfield Summer Road Race Series saw Noah de Ruiter at the head of the pack, scoring the fastest time on the 3.3-mile course with a time of 21 minutes, 13 seconds.

Bob Bezio moved into the No. 2 spot, posting a time of 23:22, followed by Dave Thomas (23:48), Liam Walker (24:03) and Lucy Koester (30:40).

Also competing in Week 9 were Joel Finnell (34:14), Cindy Dickerman (38:40) and Bob Emberley (39:51).
