Athol ace Noah Pottinger was dealing on the mound Thursday against Mohawk Trail.

The Warriors were unable to crack Pottinger, who tossed a seven strikeout no-hitter through five innings as the Bears ran away with an 11-0 Hampshire League East victory in Buckland.

Pottinger didn’t just get the job done on the mound, as he went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and a triple.

“It was obvious to us in the first inning that Noah had his best stuff today,” Athol coach Josh Talbot said. “His curveball was pristine and his fastball in good locations. We knew he’d have a big day and he delivered. Some guys made catches in the outfield that held it up for us. It was a great moment for him but we know he’s looking for bigger things the rest of the season.”

Leading 3-0, the Bears put eight runs on the board in the fifth inning to end the game early, with Casey Mason getting the rally started with a pinch hit, two-run single. Dilan Fountain went 2-for-4 with a double while Jack Bonenfant had a pair of hits in the win for Athol.

Matt Pollen stuck out three on the mound for Mohawk Trail.

Frontier 10, Turners 0 (5) — Jake Dodge went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and struck out four on the mound as the Redhawks earned a 10-0 Hampshire League West win over the Thunder in South Deerfield on Thursday.

Ben Martino made his first pitching appearance of the season for Frontier, striking out two, while Sam Schreiber picked up the win with three strikeouts.

Kevin Baumann drove in a run with a double in the second and Kyle Barnes hit an RBI single in the win.

Alex Quesada had Turners’ lone two hits and stole a pair of bases.

Greenfield 10, South Hadley 0 (5) — Brody Baird gave up just one hit, didn’t surrender a run and stuck out seven batters to lead the Green Wave to a 10-0 shutout in five innings at Vets Field in a Hampshire League West contest against the Tigers on Thursday night.

“We played great defense and got good  pitching,” Greenfield coach Tom Suchanek said. “Brody pitched a great game. He had total command out there.”

The Green Wave put six runs on the board in the first, tallied one in the fourth and three in the fifth.

David Carey had three hits, Jake Petrin, Michael Pierce,  Tyler Podolski, M.J Paulin and Trevor Kuchieski each had a pair of hits, and Carlos Cardenales and Drew Conant each hit safely in the offensive barrage by Greenfield.
