PETERSHAM — Bill Corey will give a short talk entitled “Daniel Shays: the Making of a Rebel” on Sunday, Sept. 19, at 10:30 a.m. at the Petersham Unitarian Church.
According to Corey, during Shays Rebellion following the Revolutionary War, “4,000 of the insurgents — approximately 1% of the entire Massachusetts population — were forced to sign oaths of allegiance restricting their voting rights for three years. Neither could they hold public office, nor serve as school teachers.”
The First Congregational Parish Unitarian is located at One Common Street in Petersham. The parish is following the current COVID-19 requirements from the Board of Health: 50% occupancy maximum, masks required, and no singing.”
