It was a successful day at the Country Club of Greenfield for Greenfield’s Dylan Archer on Wednesday. 

Archer finished as the match medalist with a 37 to earn three points for the Green Wave en route to a 13.5-10.5 triumph over rival Turners. 

Matt Lavoine carded a 42 to earn 3.5 points in the victory while Johnny Marchefka (50) scored three points and Hugh Cyhowski (48) added four points for Greenfield. Luke Scotera (62) and Tyler Zdanowicz (68) rounded out the Green Wave lineup. 

Joey Mosca shot a team-low 41 for the Thunder. Jackson Day (56), Reese Ewell (54), Grady Deery (58), Braeden Talbot (52) and Darien Burnett (51) competed for Turners in the loss. 

Golf

Pioneer  17.5, Hopkins 6.5 — A strong outing from match medalist Jalen McGraw (42) earned the Panthers a 17.5-6.5 win over the Golden Hawks at the Holyoke Country Club on Wednesday. 

Ethan Mauthe and Ben Werner each shot a 44 while Brandon Thayor (46) and Cam Curtis (61) all came out with wins in their matchup. Michael Stenner (55) rounded out the lineup for Pioneer. 

Mohawk Trail 12, St. Mary’s 12 — Oliver Johnson (52), Logan Moore (54), Douglas Wilcox (58), and Gage Patenaude (66) all scored points for the Warriors in a 12-12 tie with St. Mary’s at the Takoa Country Club in Westfield on Wednesday. 

Ben Thompson (52) and Phineas Tuttman (58) rounded out the Mohawk Trail lineup. Cam Cuseck was the match medalist with a score of 45 for the Saints. 

Boys soccer

Pioneer 0, Smith Academy 0 — Ryan Potter had nine saves for the Panthers to preserve a 0-0 Schmid League tie with the Falcons in Hatfield on Wednesday. 

Franklin Tech 3, PVCICS 0 — David Klempner scored two goals for the Eagles in a 3-0 Tri-County League victory over the Dragons on Wednesday. 

Sam Lashtur also found the back of the net for Franklin Tech while goalkeeper Nik Martin made six saves in the win. 

Hopkins 6, Athol 1 — Teddy Cyr found the back of the net twice to lead the Golden Hawks to a 6-1 win over the Bears in Athol on Wednesday. 

Gabe Gois scored Athol’s goal off an assist from Antonio Carbone. Holden Girouard played well in goal and made 10 saves in the loss. 

Smith Voke 7, Mohawk Trail 0 — Rosco Palmer scored a pair of goals for the Vikings as Smith Voke pulled away  with a 7-0 win   in Northampton on Wednesday. 

Connor Herzig made seven saves in the loss for Mohawk Trail. 

Volleyball

Frontier 3, Chicopee Comp 0  —Jil lian Apanell smashed 19 kills as  the Redhawks rolled to    a 25-15, 25-17, and 25-19 sweep of the Colts in Chicopee  on  Wednesday. 

Sydney Scanlon dished 31 assists to go along with three aces and six digs while Eve Dougan added eight aces and four kills, Lilah Evans put down five kills and three aces and Brooke Davis made 22 digs in th win for Frontier. 

 Easthampton 3, Greenfield 0 — The Eagles came to play on Wednesday, pulling away wi  th a 25-14, 25-9, 25-16 sweep over the host Green Wave. 

Karisma Santana had seven kills, four aces and four digs, Kelsey Richardson added four kills, five aces and six digs while Jenna Keith had two aces, four assists and seven digs for Greenfield in the loss. 

Paulo Freire 3, Franklin Tech 0 — Linley Rollins had four digs and Lea Chapman made five digs as the Eagles fell to Paulo Freire, 25-13, 25-10, 25-6 on Wednesday. 

Field hockey

Franklin Tech 3, Holyoke 1 — The Eagles are officially tournament bound. 

Franklin Tech picked up a 3-1 win over the Purple Knights on Wednesday to move to 8-0-3 on the season, guaranteeing it’ll finish over the .500 threshold to make the playoffs. 

Lilly Ross scored off an assist from Lauren Ross, followed by a Lauren Ross goal off an assist from Lilly Ross. Kaitlin Trudeau closed out the scoring for the Eagles while Madison Markwell made five saves in the win. 

Pioneer 8, Palmer 0 — Riley Thayer scored two goals and assist on a pair of others as the Panthers shutout visiting Palmer, 8-0, in County League action on Wednesday. 

Lauren Kalanowski added a goal and two assists in the win. Avery Sargent, Kelseigh Sargent, Laylah Goulston, Laura Kahler and Sophia Walker also found the back of the cage for Pioneer. 

Westfield 9, Mahar 0 — Bella Bisceglia made 30 saves as the Senators fell to the Bombers, 9-0, on Wednesday in Westfield. 

Southwick 6, Turners 1 — Devan Fox and Agatha Hatzidakis each had a pair of goals to lead the Rams to a 6-1 victory over the Thunder in Southwick on Wednesday. 

Brooke Thayer had the lone Turners strike off an assist from Avery Tela. 

Belchertown 2, Athol 0 — Abigail Olden scored a pair of goals to lead the Orioles past the Bears, 2-0, in Belchertown on Wednesday. 

Sam Kenniff made seven saves for Athol in the loss. 

Mohawk Trail 1, Westfield 1 — The Mohawk Trail defense held on to force a 1-1 tie against Westfield on Tuesday despite being out-shot 25-3 and the Bombers holding a 24-6 corner advantage in the contest. 

Kordaryl Kendall made 24 saves for the Warriors while Mya Lesieur scored the lone goal Warrior goal off an assist from Lily Jenks in the first quarter. 

Cross Country

Mohawk Trail 19, Smith Voke 37 — The Warrior boys had the first four runners across the finish line to earn a 19-37 win over Smith Vocational on Wednesday in Northampton. 

Dennis Simmons took first (14:39), while Sean O’Dea (16:08), Vincent Gauthier (17:00), and Emmett Johnson (18:12) finished in the following three spots. Moshe Close (20:34) finished 10th  in the race to cap off the victory for Mohawk Trail. 

A lack of a girls team for Smith Vocational meant the Mohawk girls team ran with the boys, starting one minute later. Ellie Pinkham took the top spot for girls (18:57) and finished ninth overall. Savannah Simmons (21:59) and Valerie Bzomowski (22:03) were the next two girls across the finish line. 

Girls soccer

Smith Academy 4, Athol 1 — Madelyn Fagan had a goal and a pair of assists to lead the Falcons past the Bears, 4-1, on Tuesday. 

Emma Bacigalupo had the lone goal for Athol off an assist from Samantha Mailloux. 

Hopkins 3, Pioneer 0 — Tia Fyden had a pair of goals and an assist as the Golden Hawks beat the Panthers, 3-0, on Tuesday. 

Deerfield Academy

The Deerfield Academy boys soccer team earned a 2-0 win over Berkshire on Wednesday while the Big Green volleyball team beat Williston, 3-0, and the boys water polo squad beat Choate, 9-7. 

The DA girls soccer team fell to Williston, 2-0, and the field hockey team lost to Northfield Mount Hermon, 3-2.
