ATHOL — Curious about what it takes to keep a hive of bees thriving? Want to learn a little about the benefits of beekeeping? Join Scott Herbert of the Worcester County Beekeepers Association, Saturday, Nov. 6, at 10 a.m., at the Athol Public Library for this fun and informative session.

In addition to a slide presentation, Herbert will bring beekeeping equipment for attendees to see and an observation hive (if the weather is warm enough). Bring your curiosity and your questions.

Herbert has been a beekeeper for seven years, currently managing 75 colonies throughout Worcester County. He has completed the coursework for the Cornell Master Beekeeper Certification Program at Cornell University, hoping to complete the exam series this summer. He owns and runs Charlton Bee Company, producing queens and nucleus colonies of bees for local beekeepers. He is also an avid woodworker, building/assembling all of the bee equipment he sells.

This program is free; families welcome.

Registration required: Please call 978-249-9515 to reserve your spot.
