On Saturday, March 5, at 10 a.m., the Athol Democratic Town Committee will convene a virtual caucus to elect four delegates and four alternate delegates to represent Athol at the 2022 Massachusetts Democratic State Convention. Registered and pre-registered Democrats in Athol who are 16 years old by Feb. 4 may vote and be elected as delegates or alternates during the caucus. Youth (age 16-35), people with disabilities, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ+ community not elected as delegates or alternates are encouraged to apply to be add-on delegates by visiting the MassDems web site.

The Caucus will be held completely virtually due to COVID-19 and interested participants can find the Zoom link on the website www.MassDems.org. Everyone is welcome to attend; however, only registered and pre-registered Democrats residing in Athol will be allowed to vote and run as delegates or alternates and only Caucus attendees can be elected as delegates/alternates.

The state nominating convention, which will be held on June 3 and 4 at the DCU Center in Worcester, will also have a virtual option. At the convention, delegates will vote to endorse candidates for the offices of Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Treasurer, Auditor, and Secretary of the Commonwealth, to appear on the state primary ballot Sept. 6. The general election is scheduled for Nov. 8.
