ATHOL — River Rat Race Chair Jeannette McIntosh reports that “Signs of Spring are popping up all over the greater North Quabbin area.

“The Carnival is in the parking area of the Plaza.

“The American Legion is prepping for their Spaghetti Supper on Friday, April 8, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. to support our Chuck Stone Little League Teams.

“The Masonic Hall is advertising their Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, April 9, from 7 to 11 a.m.

“The good folks at the Starrett Memorial Church are getting ready for their drive-thru Corned Beef dinner on Saturday night, April 9.

“Another sign of spring are all the canoes popping up on the tops of cars and trucks around the area.

“If you drive by the Billy Goats Boats at the Boathouse in Orange, you may get to see these paddlers on the Mighty Millers River. Check in at the Boathouse to see if there are canoes you may rent.

“Our own YMCA is again sponsoring the 5K Big Cheese Walk/Run, so keep a sharp eye out for those doing their practice. Their event starts at 9:30 a.m., Saturday morning.

“You might even see some floats being made for the North Quabbin Chamber of Commerce Promenade Parade stepping off on Saturday at 9:35 a.m.

“AOTV is busily checking cameras and equipment so that they are ready to show our area’s favorite Spring event.

“So eyes peeled for our signs of spring this week.”
