ROYALSTON — At a recent meeting in the town hall, the Royalston Town Democratic Committee voted unanimously for Lynne Kellner of Blossom Street as its new chair, according to a press release.

Outgoing chair Ruth Suyenaga, who remains a committee member, was applauded for her accomplishments in that post for several years.

Allen Young, vice chair, conducted the meeting and will remain as vice chair.

New member Kristie Schellie was welcomed.

The committee discussed changes in legislative districts, noting that Royalston will continue to be served by incumbent legislators Rep. Susannah Whipps and Sen. Jo Comerford.

Competition among Democrats for various statewide offices was discussed and some committee members indicated their personal preferences. Members will continue to follow and increase awareness of the competition up to the June convention and then in the September primary.

Committee member Norah Dooley received praise and support for volunteering to coordinate efforts on behalf of Democratic candidates in key competitive elections in other states, such as letter-writing and postcard campaigns. She will contact committee members in Royalston and neighboring towns as the election season approaches.

All registered Democrats are invited to attend meetings and join the committee. For more information, contact Lynne Kellner by email at blueheron63@gmail.com.
