ATHOL — The Athol Golden Age Club will hold a business meeting on May 16 at the Athol Senior Center at 1 p.m. The club is open to all senior citizens in the North Quabbin, 55 or over. Its purpose is threefold: to promote “re-creation” through challenging programs, friendship through regular meetings, and leisure activities such as the popular senior bus trips.
ATHOL — Friday, May 13 and 20, at 7 a.m., “Early Bird Birding with Jeff Johnstone.” Join Johnstone at the Environmental Center (100 Main St., Athol) before heading out to explore the North Quabbin area for spring migrant birds. ATHOL — On Wednesday, May 11, 7 p.m., “Bat, Falcon, Social Flycatcher oh my!” an Athol Bird and Nature Club presentation, will be held in person and on Zoom.
Club member Ernie Leblanc will guide attendees on a recap of a whirlwind and successful adventure in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas.

May 12: ‘A Musical Journey’
ATHOL — On Thursday, May 12, the Athol Council on Aging will host singer/entertainer Tommy Rull, who will perform his show “A Musical Journey Through The Years.” Lunch begins at noon with the show to follow. ATHOL — Saturday, May 14, 7 to 10 a.m. Pancake Breakfast at the Athol Congregational Church, Uptown Common, Athol. All you can eat! Pancakes, plain and blueberry, sausage, French Toast, juice and coffee. $6 for adults $3 for children under 12.
BARRE — The Circle of Song will hold its 20th annual Spring Concert on Saturday, May 14, at 7 pm at the Barre Town Hall (corner of Exchange and Mechanic Streets.) Everyone is invited for refreshments at the end of the concert.

ORANGE — Rolling Thunder Vermont 1 will put on a Pancake Breakfast Sunday, May 15, from 8 to 11 a.m. at the American American Legion, Daniel Shay Highway, Orange.
The menu is pancakes, sausage and scrambled eggs for $8.
WARWICK — The North Quabbin Trails Association (NQTA) is sponsoring a health and fitness expo May 15 at the Lynrose Farm and Wellness Center from noon to 4 p.m. The site is at 145 Shepardson Road, Warwick.
Hosts are Bobby Curley of Athol, president of the Orange-based NQTA and Linda Styles of Warwick, founder/owner of the Wellness Center.
The $20 admission fee includes parking and refreshments (while supplies last), with a reduced fee of $5 for children from 3 to 12; children under 3 are free.
May 17: Woodsman Rifle and Pistol Club Meeting
ATHOL — The Annual Meeting of the Woodsman Rifle and Pistol Club, Inc. will be held Tuesday, May 17 at 7 p.m. at the club, which is located at 390 Doe Valley Road in Athol.
GARDNER — The Gardner Museum presents Athol author J.R. Greene and his newest book (“Calvin Coolidge in 100 Objects,” published fall 2021) about the man who graduated from Amherst College and went on to lead the nation as the 30th president of the US. It is J.R. Greene’s 23rd book and fourth pertaining to Calvin Coolidge.

NEW SALEM — The New Salem Public Library will present “Ed the Wizard’s Alchemy Laboratory” on Saturday, May 21, at 2 p.m. in the Library Community Room.
Participants will learn how to perform magic, including the science behind it, using everyday items found at home. For all ages. The program lasts about 45 minutes followed by a short Q&A session.
This program is sponsored by a grant from the New Salem Cultural Council, a local agency, which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.

PHILLIPSTON — Art & Music Festival set for May 20-22 at Red Apple Farm, 455 Highland Avenue, Phillipston. Art activities, art vendors, food and raffles. Free admission. Sponsored by the Gardner Area League of Artists.
ORANGE — The concert season will begin Friday, June 24, at 7 p.m., and will continue through the Fridays of July. Concerts will be held in Butterfield Park on the bandstand. Families are invited to bring blankets or chairs and gather around the bandstand.
WINCHENDON — There will be a food truck festival featuring battle of the bands, crafters and artists in GAR Park, Winchendon, on Friday, June 24, from 5 to 9 p.m.
