PETERSHAM — Several local organizations have united to offer a free event that aims to celebrate and highlight Nipmuc history, culture, land use, and living presence through music, crafts, storytelling and more by Nipmuc citizens.

The event is set for Saturday, May 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Petersham North Common, 1 N. Main St.

The event aims to educate the community about the history of the Nipmuc in the region of the Quabbin, uplift Nipmuc culture, and celebrate that the Nipmuc community has returned to their homeland in Petersham/ Nichewaug. Presentations and demonstrations will include traditional Nipmuc flutes, hide-tanning, woodworking and more.

■Sierra Henries will present Birch Bark Art

Crafts, jewelry, art, musical instruments and more will be available for sale.
