Orange Community Band rehearsals start Wednesday

ORANGE — The Orange Community Band, under the direction of Stephanie Parker, will begin its summer season rehearsals on Wednesday, June 8, at 7 p.m. at the Central Congregational Church’s Fellowship Hall on South Main Street. Rehearsals will not be at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church as was previously announced.

Participants are asked to self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and stay home if they feel sick. It is recommended that band members be up to date on vaccinations. The Board of Health has COVID-19 test kits if needed.

Potential members are asked to contact a band officer with questions: Elaine Guertin (978-544-3398), Sue Tandy Songer (standy8980@gmail.com), Maureen Riendeau (mriendeau@mass.rr.com), Dick Tandy (dicktandy33@gmail.com), Terry Parker (jazzbass101@gmail.com) or Stephanie Parker (parkermusicstudio@gmail.com).

The Orange Community Band has scheduled six concerts beginning Friday, June 24, at 7 p.m. and continuing through Friday, July 29, on the bandstand in Butterfield Park.

1794 Meetinghouse hosting two weekend concerts

NEW SALEM — The 1794 Meetinghouse at 26 South Main St. will host performances by The Green Sisters on Saturday, June 11, at 7:30 p.m. and award-winning pianist and composer Steven Schoenberg on Sunday, June 12, at 4 p.m.

The Green Sisters — consisting of Hubbardston natives Beck, Bets, Brie and Mel — play an eclectic mix of folk, Celtic, bluegrass, old-time, Cajun, a cappella and barbershop music. Schoenberg’s talents cross into musical theater, classical compositions, film scoring, children’s music and solo improvisational piano performances.

Tickets for both shows are $15 for adults, $10 for children ages 13 to 17, and free for children ages 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased at 1794meetinghouse.org.

All concertgoers must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, plus a booster, and must wear a well-fitting surgical or better grade mask, fully covering the nose and mouth. Organizers have reduced the concert hall’s capacity by 50% to allow for social distancing; will keep the windows open and an exhaust fan running to ensure good ventilation; and will have hand sanitizer and masks available. Attendees are also asked to take a rapid test on the day of the event.
