ATHOL — Join the Athol Public Library on Tuesday, June 21, at 6:30 p.m. to learn about dragonflies, presented by Dave Small, president and acting director of the Athol Bird and Nature Club.
Dragonflies help humans by controlling populations of pest insects, especially those that bug us most, such as mosquitoes and biting flies. A single dragonfly can eat anywhere from 30 to hundreds of mosquitoes per day.
What kinds of dragonflies live here? What can we do to encourage them and why should we?
For over 28 years, Small has been the charismatic leader of the club. His skills as a naturalist, trip leader, and presenter are in demand throughout New England. Through Dave’s efforts, the Center is recognized as the place to hold meetings that relate to natural history and the environment.
This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services – Dig-In Grant.
Registration is required for this event. Please register at: Dragonflies! | Athol Public Library (librarycalendar.com)
ATHOL — The Athol Golden Age Club, at their last meeting, announced the date for our June meeting as June 20. Unfortunately, we did not take into account the Juneteenth holiday. In honor of this holiday, the Athol Senior Center will be closed. Our new meeting date for this month will be June 27.
The Athol Golden Age Club is open to all senior citizens in the North Quabbin, 55 or over.
