Friday: Orange Community Band performs

ORANGE — The Orange Community Band, under the direction of Stephanie Parker, will present a free band concert on the Bandstand in Butterfield Park on Friday, July 8. Concerts will continue on Friday evenings through July 29.

July 9-10: Garden tour

WESTMINSTER — The Westminster Garden Tour will be held the weekend of July 9-10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. This year’s event will again feature the stunning gardens of Gordon and Mary Hayward. Gordon and his wife Mary have been developing a 1½-acre garden around their 220-year-old farmhouse in Westminster West for the past 35 years. July 10: Phillipston museum begins Open Houses

PHILLIPSTON — Starting this Sunday, July 10, the Historical Society of Phillipston will once again have its museum open to the public on Sundays between 1 and 3 p.m. through September. It is a free experience for you at 80 State Road, Phillipston (next to the Fire + EMS Building). It is also open at other times by calling at 978-249-4356 or 978-939-5656 to set up an appointment convenient for you.

July 10: Sunday Open House at Millers River Environmental Center

ATHOL — This summer The Athol Bird and Nature Club will be having open houses at the Millers River Environmental Center. The Center will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. On July 10, Bonnie Benjamin will be hosting. Topic: Owls.

July 10: Quabbin Community Band concert

BARRE — Please join the Quabbin Community Band for the July 10 concert at Normay Park in South Barre. The concert starts at 6 p.m. The concert will be moved to the Barre Town Hall (corner of Mechanic and Exchange streets) in case of rain. July 10: Free concert, Jazz in the Park

WORCESTER — The Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra cntinues its Summer Concert Series on Sunday, July 10, at 7 p.m., at the Levenson Concert Stage at Institute Park on Salisbury Street. Under the direction of Principal Guest Conductor Jorge Soto, the free concert, “Jazz in the Park,” will feature great Latin/American musical influences.

July 16: Accordian concert and all-day bazaar

PHILLIPSTON — A free accordian concert, sponsored by the Phillipston Cultural Council, will begin on the common at 4:30 p.m., following the all-day bazaar event which begins at 10 a.m.. on the common with games, loads of jewelry, hundreds of books including many vintage ones, a coffee can auction, good food, and a huge flea market just down the road at the Transfer Station. The church’s traditional chicken barbeque will be served from 5 to 6 p.m. Call Peter Haley at 978-697-0891 if you’d like tickets for it.

July 16: Floral arranging class at Petersham Art Center

PETERSHAM — Lynn Hartman will offer a Floral Arranging Class at Petersham Art Center on Saturday, July 16, from 10 a.m. to noon. Participants will bring a vase from home and Hartman will bring the flowers, to show the techniques and skills that professionals use to create stunning floral displays. Please call 978-724-3415 for more information and to register for class. There is a fee for the Floral Arranging Class.

July 16: Phillipston Village Bazaar

PHILLIPSTON — The Phillipston Village Bazaar will be on Saturday, July 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Phillipston Common and also at the Phillipston Transfer Station. There will be games on the common for children, toys for children, a coffee can auction, a chuck wagon with hot dogs and hamburgers, books for sale and baked goods. There will also be an incredible amount of jewelry from an estate sale.

At the transfer station there will be all of the attic treasures that previously had been sold in the school gymnasium.

The night will conclude with a chicken barbecue with entertainment provided by a polka band, including Jane French of Phillipston. There will be an opportunity to dance. The concert will be supported by the local Phillipston Cultural Council and the Massachusetts Cultural Council. Tickets are available for the chicken barbecue from Peter Haley at 978-697-0891.

July 17: Sunday Open House at Millers River Environmental Center

ATHOL — This summer The Athol Bird and Nature Club will be having open houses at the Millers River Environmental Center. The Center will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. On July 17, Max MacPhee will be hosting. Topic: Caves, Chasms and Talus landscapes in Mass.
