Qualified track athletes from Frontier, Greenfield and Mohawk Trail will make the trip out east to the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury on Thursday to compete in the MIAA Division 5 Indoor Track & Field Championship. 

The Redhawk girls will be well represented, led by Caroline Crocker who will be looking to capture a state title in the 55-meter hurdles where she enters as the No. 3 seed with a top qualifying run of 8.90 seconds. She will also compete in the long jump, coming in as the No. 15 seed with a top mark of 15 feet, five inches. 

Eight other Frontier girls qualified to join Crocker in Boston. Hannah Davis will also be competing in the 55 hurdles, coming in as the No. 10 seed with a top time of 9.37 seconds. Perla Ordaz (No. 22 seed, 44.67) and Sophia Leone (34, 45.51) will compete in the 300, Claire McFarland (29, 1:51.96) and Abi Howard (30, 1:53.42) qualified for the 600, and Sasha Malo (29, 13:33.11) will run in the 2-mile.

In the field events, Lilly Novak (19, 29-09) qualified for the shot put and Summer Sobieski (14, 4-10) will leap in the high jump. In the relays, the Frontier 4×200 squad is seeded No. 17 (1:56.55) while its 4×400 team is seeded No. 19 (4:39.87). 

Savannah Simmons will be the lone Mohawk Trail girl represented on Thursday, seeded No. 32 in the 2-mile with a top run of 13:40.34.

In the boys’ race, Warrior Chay Mojallali comes in as the highest seed among Recorder area athletes. He is seeded No. 7 in the high jump with a top leap of five feet, 11 inches. 

Three Frontier individuals qualified, with Ben Cachiguango competing in the 55 hurdles (9, 8.54), William Reading running in the 600 (35, 1:36.19) and Evan Hedlund racing in the 2 mile (15, 10:24.12). Frontier will also have its 4×800 team there, which is seeded No. 14 with a top time of 9:39.27. 

Greenfield’s Deion Brewington and Jackson Caron will both be competing in two events Thursday. Brewington will throw the shot put (21, 40-4.75) and sprint the 55 meter dash (23, 6.94) while Caron is running in the 1,000 (34, 2:58.11) and the mile (29, 4:56.84). 

The girls’ long jump and shot put will be the opening events on Thursday, with action kicking off at 4:30 p.m.
