In their final road game of the regular season, the Smith Academy girls soccer team upended Athol, 3-1, at O’Brien Field.
Anna Scagel, Emily Pearl and Nina Place netted goals for the Falcons, while Grace Gauthier got the Bears’ single strike.
The goalies saw plenty of action as Smith’s Jalianny Marcano made six stops, while Athol’s Addy Proctor and Ava Adams split time between the posts. Proctor had eight saves and Adams added 10 more.
The Falcons bumped their record up to 6-5-2, however the Bears fell to 2-10-2.
Athol’s last win came in its first meeting against Smith, a 5-0 victory, on Sept. 16.
Franklin Tech 1, St. Mary’s 0 — Faythe Sobieski lengthened the Eagles’ point streak to four games.
Franklin goalie Shayly Martin secured the shutout with 14 saves as the Eagles improved to 6-5-4 overall.
Volleyball
Mahar 3, Greenfield 0 — The Senators blanked the Green Wave thanks to great performances from Madelynn Burgess, Mckenzie Scribner and Hayden Comeau.
Burgess bested Mahar in aces (11) and also posted five kills, seven assists and a dig. Scribner led the team in assists (nine) while Comeau collected seven digs, a team high.
The Senators won with set scores of 25-16, 25-23 and 25-21.
Franklin Tech 3, Mohawk 0 — The Eagles eased past the Warriors on Thursday.
Franklin won by set scores of 25-19, 25-13 and 26-24.
Breanna Kemp (two kills) and Emma Little (four assists) were a couple of standouts for Franklin.
Emma Canaday led Mohawk on its Senior Day with four aces, four assists and three kills.
Field hockey
Frontier 1, Minnechaug 1 — Macy DeMaio mustered the Red Hawks lone goal in the tie with the Falcons.
Frontier keeper Brooke Charest concluded with six saves.
