On Sunday, Dec. 7, the lighting of the Memory Tree was held in Phillipston on the Town Common, hosted by the Phillipston Historical Society. Each light on the tree represents a person whom friends and loved ones wanted to be remembered during the holidays. State Rep. Susannah Whipps and Dan Hickey, an aide to state Sen. Peter Durant, read the entire list of names. Historical society member Linda Langevin said just over 150 people are represented by the lights on the tree this year.
