Lisa Fagella: We are a nation of immigrants

OMG people! The Constitution of the United States is being destroyed, and there are still people who just don’t see it!

Two recent letters to the editor stated that “protesters” were in the way of the law so they got what they deserved. First off, Renee Good and Alex Pretti were neighbors protecting neighbors. These two empathetic souls did not get what they deserved! The armed, untrained thugs of ICE murdered U.S. citizens, arrested a 5-year-old, Liam Ramos, and disappeared countless other people of color in the past few months, including native Americans! Families are being separated and put in detention centers. Some of these detainees have died because of the conditions in the detention centers and being refused medical treatment.

One recent letter states that idiotic politicians, governors and mayors are gaslighting citizens, and putting them in harm’s way, when in reality, the only one who is gaslighting us is Trump, along with Miller, Johnson, Bondi, and Noem. And let us not forget the spineless Republicans who want to keep their jobs. They all want a nation under their control, not a nation of “we the people.”

The reality is that “Making America Great” actually means making America white, which is not who we are. We are a nation of immigrants on stolen land.

As for septuagenarians. The retired people out there holding signs have become very wise over the decades lived, and this is how they want to spend some of their retirement, practicing their First Amendment rights.

As for AWFL … I had to look that one up. For those of you not in the know, this means Affluent White Female Liberal. Yeah well, maybe white women are standing up because our rights are on the line also. Or maybe they are just women who care about all humanity, and have decided to be the voice of minorites who can’t be out there protesting because of fear of being detained.
