PHILLIPSTON – Over an acre of brush and woods near Baldwin Hill Road was burned in a second-alarm brush fire reported Monday afternoon.

The fire was reported just before 5 p.m. on Monday at 320 Baldwin Hill Road and described as a large area of brush burning which threatened nearby structures.

Command called for a first-alarm brush fire, which brought in mutual aid and brush and tanker apparatuses. Templeton, Athol and Winchendon responded, and when a second alarm was struck, the Gardner and Orange departments dispatched crews and apparatuses.

It’s estimated that the fire spread approximately 1.2 acres.
