Buddy Baseball, a free program for young people with disabilities to play ball with the help of peer buddies, begins its 32nd season on Saturday, May 9. We invite new players, buddies and coaches to join our enthusiastic, family and fun-oriented crew.

We meet on Saturdays, May 9 to June 20, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Middle School Field in Greenfield, with a pizza party at the Green River Municipal Swim Area on our last day. In memory of our founder, my son Thomas Roberts-Wierzbowski, there is no charge for the program. Team T-shirts, trophies and group photo are included.

Our goals are to learn skills, have fun, be safe and play ball. Players can hit off of tees or from pitches. Players swing until they get a hit. Buddies help them hit, round the bases and in the field. Wheelchairs and walkers are welcome.

We are grateful to this year’s sponsors, Mowry & Schmidt and James R. Anderson. Can we add your name to our sponsors’ list?

To sign up, become a sponsor or coach, or for more information, please contact the Greenfield Recreation Department, 413 772-1553 or reco@greenfield-ma.gov.

This year we are the T-Rexes. We welcome you to come roar with us in the great American pastime of playing ball!
