Overview:

Keith Curtis, a 40-year-old man from Athol, is facing drug charges after being arrested by the Boston Police Department's District D-14 Drug Control Unit. Curtis is charged with trafficking Class A drugs and resisting arrest. Officers had been surveilling Curtis, who had two active warrants, and allegedly observed him ingest drugs via a glass pipe. As officers approached, Curtis allegedly pushed an officer and fled, but was apprehended after a brief struggle.

An Athol man is set to be arraigned Wednesday in Boston Municipal Court on drug charges, according to the Boston Police Department.

Keith Curtis, 40, is charged with trafficking Class A drugs and resisting arrest, and is currently being held without bail. According to Boston Police, at about 3:50 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, members of the District D-14 (Brighton) Drug Control Unit made an onsite arrest and recovered illegal drugs in the area of 700 Boylston St. in Boston.

As part of an ongoing investigation, officers were surveilling Curtis, who was known to have two active warrants, sitting outside of the location on Boyslton Street. Officers observed Curtis allegedly ingest drugs via a glass pipe as they approached them and two other individuals, according to police.

As officers walked toward the group, Curtis allegedly ​pushed an officer and turned​ away in an attempt to flee. A brief struggle ensued in which he allegedly dropped a small pouch onto the ground before​ slipping out of his jacket and fleeing. Additional officers on scene were able to immediately apprehend him.

A search of Curtis yielded approximately 32 grams of Fentanyl, according to a police report. The other two individuals were issued summonses for drug possession.
