On Saturday, May 30, a Franklin County Repair Event was held at the Franklin County Technical School and it was, apparently, a rousing success with some 119 “customers” coming in for help.

I was one of those happy clients, with Kevin French spending close to two hours getting our old reading lamp to work again. His patience and persistence with the devilish working of what is a deceivingly complicated contraption, and his good humor throughout the whole painful experience prompted me to write his praises for all to see.

Many thanks to Jan Ameen and her many volunteers for organizing this event, to the many volunteer experts who put their patience and talents to the service of the public and specifically, to Kevin French for the hours of work that I could never have afforded to pay for. Without that, this lamp would have ended up in a landfill somewhere.

My husband and I thank Kevin and all the volunteers and so does our beloved planet home, I’m sure!
