Richard J. LaFrance

ORANGE, MA – Richard J. LaFrance, 75, of Blodgett Street, died on May 9, 2026 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.

Born in Fitchburg on July 24, 1950, he was the son of the late Stanley C. and Alice (Bassard) LaFrance and moved around the United States growing up as a child of a military service member.

On May 30, 1981, Richard married Donna (Davidson) and enjoyed 45 years together.

Richard was a grinder at the L. S. Starrett Co. for many years before retiring. He previously had worked for Catamount and Sterilite.

A talented craftsman, Richard enjoyed woodworking and making furniture.

He served as a volunteer and leader for Boy Scouts.

Survivors include his wife, Donna LaFrance of Orange; a son, Joshua LaFrance of Orange; a daughter, Rebecca Duppler and her husband Paul, of Oakdale, CT; two grandsons, Jason Duppler and Sean Duppler, both of Oakdale, CT; sisters, Patricia Maxwell of Lunenburg and Roberta Denner of Ohio; a foster son, Jake Thornton of Louisiana; and many nephews and nieces.

Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased by a sister, Sandy Marlow, and brothers, Edward LaFrance and Raymond LaFrance.

There are no calling hours or services at this time.

Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange, is assisting the family.
