‘Women of ’76’ performance coming to Swift River Valley Historical Society
NEW SALEM — Voices rarely heard through the history books will be on full display at the Swift River Valley Historical Society on Sunday, July 12, with a presentation by actress and playwright Rita Parisi.
The founder of Waterfall Productions will deliver a solo theatrical performance of “Women of ’76” — a journey into the lives of real women who witnessed, chronicled, and in some cases, changed the course of the American Revolution. The performance will be in the Prescott Church building on the Swift River Valley Historical Society’s grounds at 40 Elm St. at 1:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Offices of town coordinator, town clerk move
NEW SALEM — The Town Coordinator’s Office has moved to the Old Library Annex at 24 South Main St. and the Town Clerk’s Office has moved to the Stowell Building at 19 South Main St.
According to the New Salem News, the clerk’s office hours remain Mondays from 5 to 7 p.m. and by appointment. The town coordinator works from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to noon on Fridays. Hours are subject to change due to holidays, illness, or off-site meetings.

Pickleball clinics set for Swift River School gym
NEW SALEM — Pickleball clinics will be held in the Swift River School gymnasium most Thursdays in July.
Whether you already know how to play or you would like to learn, everyone is welcome to stop in on any of these days for open play. Pickleball is a fast-growing sport that includes elements of badminton, tennis and Wiffle ball.
The July 9 clinic will be held from 6 to 7 p.m., and the July 23 and July 30 clinics are scheduled for 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The Swift River School gymnasium is at 201 Wendell Road in New Salem. Participants can bring their own equipment, or it can be provided.
The clinics are hosted by Pat Dery and TaMara Conde of the New Salem Recreation Committee. With questions, contact Dery at 978-544-7554.
