HYATTSVILLE, MD – Amy Louise Green, 76, passed away on August 7, 2026, after a life filled with adventure, laughter, family, and love.
Born in Athol, Massachusetts, on March 29, 1950, Amy graduated from Athol High School in 1968 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Maryland. She enjoyed a distinguished career with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Westat Consulting Group, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, retiring from the FDA in 2012.
Amy will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, wonderful sense of humor, love of music, and generous heart. She was a world traveler, talented cook, entertainer, and someone who loved bringing family and friends together. Her home was always open, and she especially enjoyed family gatherings, laughter, and simply spending time with those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, O.V. and Charlotte Green, who were longtime residents of Athol; her beloved brother, David Monroe Green; and her brother-in-law, John deMontigny.
Amy is survived by her sisters, Anne Frances (Green) El Shazli and Alice Carol (Green) deMontigny; brother, James Andrew Green; sons, Ashref El Shazli and his wife, Caroline, and Adam El Shazli; and her niece, Charlotte El Shazli Grinage, who was like a daughter to her, and Charlotte’s husband, Darren Grinage. She also leaves nieces Kimberly Vincent and her husband, Robert, Ashley Potts, Jessica Green, and Aimee Newton; nephews Josh Green and Geoffrey Newton; and her beloved grandchildren, Chase, Max, Isabelle, Elizabeth, Adam Jr., and Benya El Shazli, who brought her immeasurable joy and held a special place in her heart.
Amy lived a full and adventurous life, loved deeply, laughed often, and created memories that will be treasured forever. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
