PETERSHAM – A motorcycle operator was LifeFlighted to an area hospital following a two-vehicle crash on New Salem Road Saturday.

The crash occurred at the intersection of New Salem Road, West Street, and West Road in Petersham Saturday, Aug. 22, at around 1 p.m. The operator of the motorcycle was LifeFlighted to UMass/Memorial Hospital in Worcester.

Referring to initial reports, Petersham Police Chief Peter Buck said the operator of the motorcycle was struck by a motor vehicle heading west on West Road. The driver of the vehicle was cited for failing to stop or yield the right of way.

Buck said he spoke with the operator of the motorcycle on Monday, Aug. 24, adding “he sounded like he was doing pretty well.”
