Dunnellon, FL – Janet Hayne Geesling, 71, passed away at Cate’s Hospice House, Ocala, Florida on Monday October 19, 2026. She was born in Athol on April 7, 1955 to the late Edward and Mary Hayne. She was the youngest of 5 siblings.
Janet attended Athol schools, graduating with the Class of 1973. She also attended Mount Wachusett Community College, as well as taking continuing education classes at Northern Virginia Community College and Germanna Community College in Virginia.
Janet moved to Virginia after meeting her husband of 47 years, Bruce, where they raised their two daughters. They retired and moved to Florida in 2013.
Janet enjoyed gardening, traveling, kayaking, and biking.
Janet is survived by her husband Bruce, Dunnellon, Fl; her daughters, Jessica Galloway of Moore, Oklahoma and Courtney Geesling (Scott McQuoid) of Ocala, Fl; her granddaughter, Riley Noah of Moore, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her siblings, Susan Cote, Edward Hayne, and Kathleen Progen, as well as her nieces and nephews.
Janet was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Maureen Gallant and nephew, Christopher Cote.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Dunnellon, Fl on Thursday, October 29, 2026 at 11:00 AM.
Burial will be at Gesthemane Cemetery, Athol, MA at a later date.
