The UMass women’s basketball program signed five players on Wednesday.

Lex Brooks, Aisha Dabo, Natousha Harden, Stefanie Kulesza and Damoni Tucker signed National Letters of Intent and will join the Minutewomen as freshmen in the 2021-22 season.

“I feel that we have addressed all of our positional needs and added significant depth,” head coach Tory Verdi said in a statement. “This class brings a tremendous amount of talent, coupled with size, speed and athleticism.”

Brooks is from Endicott, New York. She is a 5-foot-11 guard for Westtown School. She averaged 15 points per game last season and was named First-Team All-Friends League and a Friends League All-Star.

Brooks played for the same AAU program as current Minutewoman Marve Donnelly.

Dabo is from Cumming, Georgia, and plays for Forsyth Central High School. The 6-1 forward is ranked as the No. 3 wing player and 24th player overall in the state. She is a two-time All-Region First-Team selection in the state.

Harden is a 6-4 center from New London, Connecticut. She will play for the Commonwealth Academy in Springfield this season.

Harden was an All-NEPSAC Honorable Mention player at The Hyde School during the 2019-20 season. She helped the team to the NEPSAC Class E championship game.

Kulesza is a 5-11 guard from Wilmington, Delaware, who plays for Conrad Schools of Science. She ranked among ESPN’s Top 100 recruits in the Class of 2021 The five-time First-Team All-Conference selection and four-time First-Team All-State honoree helped her team to the Diamond State Conference Championship for four straight seasons. She surpassed 1,000 career points as a sophomore.

Tucker is a 5-6 guard from New York City who plays for South Shore High School. Tucker led her team to the state tournament for the first time in 10 years as a freshman, averaging 30 points and 10 assists per game. She spent her sophomore and junior seasons at Putnam Science.

MINUTEMEN ADD SIZE FOR NEXT YEAR — UMass added one player on the first day of the early signing period. Brian Mathews, a 6-foot-9 center out of Chicago, signed his National Letter of Intent to play for UMass on Wednesday.

“Brian is a high-character kid. He’s a big, physical frontcourt player who has a high skillset,” UMass coach Matt McCall said. “He’s very young, and we believe his best days as a basketball player are ahead of him. His ceiling as a player is tremendously high.”

SCHEDULE — UMass’ schedule for the “Bubbleville” event at Mohegan Sun is complete. The Minutemen will play Siena (Nov. 26, 4 p.m.), Delaware (Nov. 27, 4:30), Iona (Nov. 29, noon) and South Florida (Dec. 1, 9:30 p.m.). Games will be broadcast on FloSports.

The Iona program, which is coached by former Minuteman Rick Patino, is currently shut down due to a positive case of coronavirus. The game could be canceled.

UMass will announce more nonconference games soon, according to Athletic Director Ryan Bamford. Bamford said he expects to add 4-5 games against New England teams between Dec. 1 and Dec. 25. At least three games will be at home with 1-2 on the road.
