Winchendon Police arrest Peter Baldini for assault, kidnapping charges

WINCHENDON – Peter Baldini of Winchendon has been arraigned on charges related to an alleged assault with a knife and machete, according to Winchendon Police.

In a statement issued on Monday, Sept. 30, police responded to the area of 17 Brooks Road that day for a report of a man who had been allegedly assaulted with a machete and knife by Baldini. Officers located the reporting party, who said they had also been allegedly held captive and assaulted with a “black powder firearm.”

The Mass State Police Special Tactical Operations Team was called to the scene to assist with the incident, and after a lengthy negotiation, Baldini was taken into custody outside his home without incident. No injuries were reported.

Baldini was arraigned at Winchendon District Court on Sept. 30 on two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of kidnapping. Further charges of possession of ammunition without an FID card and possession of a large capacity magazine are pending. He will be back in court on Oct. 4.
