WINCHENDON – Effective immediately, the Department of Conservation and Recreation has reopened all roads and parking areas of the Lake Dennison Recreation Area in the Town of Winchendon. These areas were closed due to flooding caused by US Army Corps of Engineers holding water at Birch Hill Dam.

WENDELL — No injuries were reported after a freight train carrying merchandise derailed in Wendell Tuesday afternoon, knocking 15 railroad cars off the track, according to Wendell Fire Chief Joe Cuneo.

Shockwaves from a 3.8 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Maine could be felt across Franklin County Monday. According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake stuck York Harbor in southern Maine at 10:22 a.m., and could be be felt across New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
9:34 a.m. - Reporting party states a Ford Ranger passed him, cut him off and almost hit him. Officers responded and spoke with all involved parties. Reporting party sent on his way after calming him down. Conflicting stories from both parties. Operator of Ranger was advised of the complaint, he wanted it on record about reporting party’s aggressive behavior in case something happens.
