Athol Fire Department completes Nero’s Law training

The North Quabbin Regional Animal Control Center in Athol was the recipient of a $1,000 prize presented at the conclusion of the grand opening weekend of Pet Supplies Plus, 111 Tower Road, at North Quabbin Commons in Athol. Visitors to the store last Saturday and Sunday were invited to cast ballots for one of three area facilities which set up informational tables on site during the weekend: North Quabbin Animal Control, Ahimsa Animal Haven Animal Rescue of Templeton and the Gardner Animal Shelter. Votes were counted at the end of the day Sunday with NQRACC receiving 556 votes; Ahimsa garnering 412 votes and Gardner Animal receiving 328 votes. Accepting the check were NQRACC Assistant Animal Control officers Janelle Caron, left, and Patricia Russell. Store manager Jennifer Boutell noted a collection box is on site for donations to the Athol Animal Control.
