ATHOL — There were no surprises at the polls Monday as 3 percent of the town’s 6,886 registered voters turned out to cast their ballots at the Annual Town Election held in the Senior Center.
There were no contests for the 11 positions to be filled.
Lawrence McLaughlin will return for another one-year term as Town Moderator. He received 174 votes, and there were 11 blank votes.
Stephen Raymond (150 votes), present chairman of the Board of Selectmen, will return to the board joined by newcomer William Chiasson (160 votes). Kevin Heath and Ken Duffy each received one vote, and there were 60 blank votes.
William Chiasson (153), Tammy Duquette (145) and incumbent Kenneth Vaidulas (158) were elected to Athol seats on the Athol-Royalston Regional School Committee for three years. There were 93 blank votes.
Charles Pretti (112 votes) will return for another three-year term to represent Royalston on the school committee. Roberta Newman received 43 votes, and there were 29 blanks.
Incumbents Sharon Brighenti (153 votes) and Margaret Feldmen (164 votes) will both serve another three-year term on the Board of Library Trustees. There were 55 blanks; Edward Ledgard (168 votes) was elected to a five-year term on the Athol Housing Authority (18 blanks), and; incumbent Kevin Materas (164 votes) will serve another three-year term as Constable, (21 blanks).
