Mason Lehtomaki drove in Caleb Dillensneider with the game’s lone run in the first inning, lifting Greenfield Savings Bank to a 1-0 victory over St. Kazimierz Society in a Newt Guilbault Community Baseball League contest, Wednesday night in Turners Falls.
Dillensneider doubled and scored on a Lehtomaki RBI single for GSB. Lehtomaki struck out nine in three no-hit innings on the mound, before Ethan Eichorn danced out of trouble and stranded a runner on third base in the fourth. Jake Jurek closed things out on the mound to snag the save. Emmett Spriggs picked up his first hit of the season in the win for GSB.
St. Kaz received a standout pitching performance from Kainen Stevens, who struck out six batters and added a hit at the plate. Jackson Cogswell also had a hit.
• Elsewhere, Matt Field struck out 11 in five innings of work to help Turners Falls Athletic Club get past Booska’s Flooring, 15-8, at Campbell Field.
Sammy Studlien was 3-for-4 with an RBI for TFAC, which received two hits apiece from Field and Brody Girard.
Booska’s Flooring received two hits, including a double, from Max Brunette. Jake Maynard added a hit.
Mohawk Youth
Bradyn Marcoux was 2-for-3 with an RBI while Oliver Johnson also had two hits to help Ashfield upend the Buckland/Shelburne Brewers, 9-3, in a Mohawk Youth Baseball League Majors Division game, Wednesday night.
Jackson Morey paced the Brewers with two hits, including a double, and two RBIs, and pitcher Addie Loomis struck out four batters.
• Elsewhere, Mason Wise smacked a two-run home run to go with two doubles as Hawlemont defeated Rowe, 19-4, in Minors action.
Brody Eastman homered and singled in the victory, with teammate Joe Mason going 3-for-3 with a triple and two doubles.
Camden Cousineau came up big defensively for Rowe, which received strikeouts from both Brayden Brisson and Kameron Crowningshield.
• In other Minors Division play, Kaiden Piantanida tripled in three runs, Noah Mortimer homered and drove in three runs, and Cole Bassett struck out three on the mound to help the Colrain Giants edge the Buckland/Shelburne Padres, 11-9.
Wesley Jenks went 3-for-3 at the plate for the Padres. Jed Amstein, Colton Kingsbury and Dustin Reade all went 2-for-2 at the plate, as Reade and Logan Bissum struck out five batters apiece.

Athol Lions 9, Dick’s Auto 7 — Hunter Brooks pitched four solid innings in his mound debut, but Dick’s Auto fell at Muzzey Field on Wednesday.
Sam Connors pitched an inning and two-thirds in relief for Dick’s Auto.
Luke Connors had three RBI at the plate, with Luan Lopez flashing some leather on defense.
Rotary 10, Orange Legion 0 — Orange Legion could not get the bats going in a loss at James Salevan Field on Wednesday.
Jayden Delgado, Colby Chiasson and Gavin Young all spent time on the mound for Orange Legion.

Conte Office Interior’s Savanah Aldrich struck out seven in the circle, while the offense received two hits from Ivy Rea, two RBIs from Victoria Vasser and a two-run hit from Stella Verlander en route to an 18-10 win over Descavich Plumbing and Heating, Wednesday in Greenfield Girls Softball League Ponytail Division action at Murphy Park.
Descavich received hits from Lucja Youodzinski and Cobi Pyminski.
• Elsewhere, MacKenzie Paulin struck out 16 to go with two hits and three RBIs at the plate to help Camelot Carpet Cleaners to a 15-3 win over Pipione’s Sport Shop.
Taylor Menard (two-run home run, four RBIs), Kelly Baird (three hits, three RBIs), Kaia Livingstone (three hits, three RBIs), Amelia Pierce (hit) and Christiana Dunn (hit) all contributed offensively for Camelot.
Pipione’s Margarette Howland and Anna Bucala combined for 11 strikeouts. Cordelia Guerin (hit, three RBIs) and Howland (triple) were offensive standouts.
• In Lil’ Nippers play, Savannah Brown and Emilie Cleveland smacked four hits each while Chloe Bigelow and Tilly Dulles had three hits apiece to help the Purple Panthers to an 11-6 victory over Lundgren Honda.
Lundgren’s Libby Amstein and Madison Ross registered four hits each. Ella Guyette (three hits), Vivian Henry (two hits) and Molly Ross (two hits) also contributed.

Jeff Guy was 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs, helping Beck’s Auto roll past Taylor’s Tavern, 17-1, in a Greenfield Adult Co-Rec League softball game, Wednesday.
Jon Rosario homered, doubled and drove in three runs for Beck’s, while Adam Bastarache (HR, 2B, 4 RBIs) and Ashley Parker (2B) were other offensive stars.
Taylor’s Tavern was paced by Eric Bastarache’s 3-for-4 night with a double.
• Elsewhere, Business & Pleasure brought the business with a 13-11 win over Riff’s North in a game played at Green River Field.
Danny Shedd (3-for-4), Brett Matuszko (HR) and Kelly McLean (reached base three times) pased Business & Pleasure.

Ray Godin’s plus-10 point quota was tops at Wednesday’s Knights of Columbus Golf League played at Thomas Memorial Golf & Country Club in Turners Falls.
Dave Dion was second at plus-8, followed by John O’Riley at plus-6.
Mike Beauregard was closest to the pin on No. 7 (8 feet, 10 inches), and Mike Curry was closest on No. 9 (10-7).
Jim Koldis, Stephan Smith and O’Riley all won a skin.

Anne Corrinet, Karen Hopkins, Marilyn Kostanski and Sally Malloy took the top spot in the taco scramble held at Wednesday’s Thomas Memorial Ladies League.

Bob Ferris and Vinnie Melendez scored top honors, amassing 35 points after six weeks to lead the way at the Greenfield Elks Golf League at the Country Club of Greenfield, Wednesday.
Greg Call and Bob Zaikowski were second with 34 points, followed in third by the team of Dave McDonald and Keith Schempp (33½).
Bob Walker was closest to the pin on Wednesday at 11-11.
PV pole vault school
The Pioneer Valley Pole Vault School in Bernardston is open by appointment for individual and group lessons through the fall with negotiable rates.
Lessons will be taught by Pioneer Valley Regional School track and Northfield Mount Hermon School pole-vault coach Jim Bell, himself a Masters pole vaulter.

Montague Mug Race
Registration is underway for the 39th annual Montague Mug Race, set for Aug. 17 at the Village Common.
The 5.5-mile race blasts off at 8:30 a.m. Pewter Mugs are awarded to top male/female finishers and coffee mugs to top finishers of each division. T-shirts are given to the first 90 runners.
Now in its 15th year, the Mini Mug Race will kick off at 8:35. This 2-mile course is a great scenic route around the Old South Cemetery. Both races will finish at the ball field. All runners are entered into drawing for local prizes. The course is well marked with plenty of water stops and features a few challenging hills with a run along the Connecticut River.
