Warwick reports no positive COVID-19 cases

WARWICK — During a meeting on Monday, Selectboard Chair Lawrence “Doc” Pruyne said there still haven’t been any positive COVID-19 cases in town. The most up-to-date statistics from the state Department of Public Health, released on Wednesday, also show that Warwick hasn’t had any known cases.

While he has “heard rumors” of two infections in town, Pruyne said residents have done well with practicing social distancing as Warwick Community School and town buildings remain closed.

“The official opinion is that we’re edging down off the peak of infections and deaths,” he said. “Let’s pray it’s true. Maintaining our vigilance for a short time longer will help keep the virus from making any new inroads.”

Selectboard member retires

WARWICK — After four years on the Selectboard, member James Erviti retired from his position at the end of the latest Selectboard meeting on Monday.

Fellow member Todd Dexter thanked Erviti for his commitment and the perspective he brought to the board. Chair Lawrence “Doc” Pruyne said Erviti “went above and beyond the call of duty” during his service to the town.

Brian Snell is running unopposed for the open Selectboard seat in the upcoming town election Monday, May 18. Polling hours are from 3 to 7 p.m. at Town Hall. Mail-in ballots are being accepted.
