Aug. 11: Summer games night every Thursday

PETERSHAM — Orthodox Congregational Church is holding Open Games Nights every Thursday during the summer for people of all ages in the Andrews Hall at 21 N. Main St. and the surrounding property from 6 to 9 p.m. Board and card games, basketball, and other activities, as well as light refreshments are provided, but people are invited and encouraged to bring games or food items to share, as well, if they wish.

Aug. 13: Monadnock Tri State Dance Club

WINCHESTER, N.H. — The Monadnock Tri State Dance Club will hold a dance at the ELMM Community Center, 21 Durkee St., Winchester, N.H. Saturday, Aug. 13, from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Live music by: “Cruzin’ Carl Band”

Aug. 16: The Music of the Beatles

NEW SALEM — On Tuesday, Aug. 16, at 6:30 p.m., the New Salem Public Library will present “A Cultural and Historical Reflection of the 1960s Through the Music of the Beatles” in the Library Community Room. This presentation by Fran Hart features live acoustic music and audience sing-alongs, coupled with rare audio and video clips.

Aug. 26: Fourth Friday

ATHOL — Athol’s final Fourth Friday celebration of the summer is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. It will feature a bicycle helmet give-away. Other activities include entertainment from musical storyteller Eli Elkus, who will perform from 4 to 7 p.m. in front of the old Unitarian Church. Magical Mike the Magician will perform from 5 to 6 p.m. in the lot next to Privilege 351 barbershop. There will also be a blacksmith demonstration at Tintagels Gate. Deja vu Women’s Consignments will be selling tickets for a raffle and will be giving a 10% off discount to everyone donating school supplies for back-to-school. Many downtown businesses will be open and there will be a variety of vendors.

Aug. 31: ‘Cooking with Cristina Garcia’

ATHOL — The Athol Public Library will host “Cooking with Cristina Garcia: Lacto-Fermentation” Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 6 p.m. in the program room.
