Friday, Aug. 21

8:25 a.m. – Caller is reporting stop sign at Sanders Street and South Athol Road looks snapped at the base and is leaning. Officer states it appears that someone just pulled on the sign. Officer straightened sign and it is fine.

10:15 a.m. – Caller reporting his mother’s cell phone was stolen and last location is on Gibson Avenue. Phone has been missing since December 2025. Reporting party advised that he has reported it missing with the carrier and that it last pinged in the area of Gibson Drive. Phone is shut off.

1:33 p.m. – Caller reporting a group of kids under the parking garage who were fighting. She did tell them to leave and they swore at her. Officer advises juveniles in the lot were yelling into the parking garage to hear the echo. No issues.

Saturday, Aug. 22

10:23 a.m. – Party into the station to show a fraudulent piece of mail he received. Party was advised to contact the necessary agencies with provided fraud packet.

10:46 a.m. – Caller reporting a man laying on the ground on Main Street. Only description is a cap and a coat. Party was okay, just waiting for the bus.

11:08 a.m. – Female caller to report they are having a Nerf fun fight today at 1 p.m. and wanted us to be aware. Officer advised.

Sunday, Aug. 23

7:24 a.m. – Caller making us aware there is an encampment set up near the railroad tracks and underpass on Tunnel Street. Two calls between 6:30 a.m. and 7:20 a.m. for the same issue. Officer advised of phone calls.

Wednesday, Aug. 26

8:06 a.m. – Gardner Police calling, they had someone get threatened with a knife in their town. The victim should be on the Mart bus hearing to Market Basket, Gardner Police Department is requesting Athol to gather the victim’s information. Officer met with the victim and relayed the information to Gardner Police Department.

9:37 a.m. – Female party in the lobby that wants to speak with an officer about a custody exchange that took place in the police department parking lot. She says the male did not properly buckle their child and sped off. Child’s father stated the child was in a car seat when he left and proceeded to show a car seat in his vehicle. Attempted to call the reporting party back, but there was no answer and unable to leave a voicemail.

12:10 p.m. – Reporting party stated his father owns a building on Main Street and he is working with the property manager about keeping unwanted individuals away and looking for assistance.

Thursday, Aug. 27

8:18 a.m. – Caller reporting a silver knife lying in the road. Knife is located on the right side of the street headed down Mechanic Street from the hospital end. Area checked, unfounded.

9:47 a.m. – Party from Union Street calling about a dead skunk in his yard. Advised Animal Control Officer will not pick the animal up. Party was concerned it could have rabies. Advised to call the shelter and leave a message for Animal Control Officer.

Friday, Aug. 28

9:26 a.m. – Caller states she has a dog that is registered to her, gave the dog to a friend last night and somehow the dog ended up at another home. Caller would like to retrieve the dog and would like to know how to do so. Female party was advised this is a civil matter, but police can stand by to keep the peace if she tries to get the dog back.

10:15 a.m. – Caller reporting a strong odor from the hospital to Market Basket. No known cause and wanted to report it. Officer advised.

2:56 p.m. – Female party reporting people are living in tents on a dirt road near Electric Street by the railroad tracks.

Saturday, Aug. 29

10:21 a.m. – Caller reporting a gray Nissan Titan with dealer plates that is driving erratically. Slowing down and stopping at green lights. Officer advised.

1:41 p.m. – Caller reporting someone in a Home Depot rental truck drove near her car and her yard and then took a picture of her plate and took off. Unclear what the reporting party was looking for.

1:55 p.m. – Reporting stated there is a dirt bike that has been flying up and down Lincoln Avenue for the last 45 minutes. Officer advised. Vehicle gone on arrival.

Wednesday, Sept. 2

9:19 a.m. – 911 caller stating not an emergency at this time. He is with an elder services company and was requesting access to the home to check on an elderly male that resides there when the situation verbally escalated and he had to leave to prevent further escalation. Reporting party was no longer on scene and was advised to come to the station due to officers being tied up on a priority call. Reporting party was advised that the daughter can refuse access and was provided with options moving forward.

11:03 a.m. – Assistant store manager from Hobby Lobby reporting there is at least one car near the vacant stores next to the store that is blaring loud music and make lewd gestures towards customers. Requesting that they be moved along. Vehicles left just prior to officer arrival. Music was “shaking windows.”

2:02 p.m. – Attempted to make contact with a party on Wallingford Avenue regarding a by-law violation and failure to comply with the extension date for vehicle removal. Negative contact at the residence. Business card was left and contact still needs to be made regarding the violation.

Thursday, Sept. 3

9:22 a.m. – 911 caller reporting a disturbance between him and his neighbor. States words were exchanged and his neighbor is going to say the reporting party threatened to hurt him. Reporting party did state he threatened to spray the male party with pepper spray because he wouldn’t stop approaching him. Reporting party advised to stay away from the male party until an officer arrives. No call received at this point from the other involved party. Spoke to all involved parties, calmed the scene down and advised everyone involved about their options.

12:04 p.m. – Female calling, while cleaning the basement she located a few firearms. Officer retrieved two items.

12:47 p.m. – Officer flagged down, was advised there was someone slumped over in the area of Hapgood and Beacon streets. Made contact with the individual, he was sitting on the sidewalk and did not appear to be in any distress.

Friday, Sept. 4

10:32 a.m. – Walk-in to the lobby to report she had paid someone for services and the party has not been back to finish the job. Officer attempted to call the involved party and left a message to call the station. Officer made contact with the involved party and he will bring the money to the station for the reporting party. Female party came into the station to pick up the money.

11:13 a.m. – Caller reporting a cat in a parking lot on Main Street hanging around. Described as orange with a tag. Officer advised and will not be responding for the wandering cat.

Monday, Sept. 7

1:32 p.m. – Caller from Lenox Street reporting he found his screen has been cut and a knife left behind. He has been home, is currently inside the residences and does not think it is a breaking and entering situation. Incident is under investigation.
